CPSC Warns Against Male-to-Male Extension Cords and Backfeeding

CPSC warned consumers to stop using specified male-to-male extension cords because exposed prongs can become energized when one end is connected to a power source. The agency also identified electrocution and fire risks from backfeeding a residential electrical system, plus carbon-monoxide risk when short cords encourage generators to be placed near homes or enclosed spaces.
