CPSC Warns Against Male-to-Male Extension Cords and Backfeeding
CPSC warned consumers to stop using specified male-to-male extension cords because exposed prongs can become energized when one end is connected to a power source. The agency also identified electrocution and fire risks from backfeeding a residential electrical system, plus carbon-monoxide risk when short cords encourage generators to be placed near homes or enclosed spaces.Read article

New York City Adopts New Existing-Building and Energy Conservation Codes
ICC reported that New York City adopted the 2025 NYC Energy Conservation Code based on the 2024 IECC and an NYC Existing Building Code based on the IEBC. NFPA Research Finds 147 Fatal Occupational Electrical Injuries in 2023
NFPA’s analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data recorded 147 fatal occupational injuries caused by exposure to electricity or arc flash in 2023. Across 2014–2023, 1,474 workers died from electrical exposure, an average of 147 per year.Read article
